A DJ, a hotbod model and an eco warrior; Megha Kawale wears many hats and without any doubt the green one is her pet. When she is not scorching private parties of the likes of the Ambanis, Megha can be found dirtying her hands in her organic kitchen garden. The country's first female DJ, Megha confesses she is the happiest when biting into a humble organic pie.

MY GREEN SCHOOL Megha has recently returned after walking the ramp for Manish Malhotra and Vikram Phadnis at UFA, Colombo. Next, she will be traveling the globe for creative inspiration for her new album, and she recalls how it was on one of such work trips to Switzerland that she picked up her first lesson in green living. "I was awed by the breathtaking beauty of Switzerland. But what also instantly hit me was the way the Swiss people work towards safe¬guarding their environment," she says. And as they, the rest is history. Observation and education became her green weapons. "I learnt that recycling is a complete lifestyle in Switzerland and how they have an organized waste disposal system in place. Also, one doesn't have to pay extra for organic food there, courtesy stringent regulations for testing any produce for chemicals. All this taught me that progress and nature can go hand in hand."

MY GREEN HOME Her romance with farm fresh wonders is a result of being born into a family of foodies and nature lovers. "Some people eat to live but my family lives to eat. I would say that it was the joy of to start our organic kitchen garden," she says. And even though monitoring the farm involved a lot of hard work, it was addictive. When not working, she spends time at her family bungalow in Alibagh, and as Megha gives us a verbal tour of their solar-powered home, we can't miss the .point that she's trying to make: every tiny step can secure us a brighter, greener and cleaner future. "We even have a manure pit where the leftover food is dumped and converted into organic manure," she says.
